Baked
Apples
Core 6 large baking apples; pare strip from top of
each. Place in 10x6x1½-inch baking
dish. Fill apples with ¾ cup raisins or
chopped dates.
Combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup water, 2
tablespoons butter, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg;
bring to boil. Pour hot syrup around
apples. Bake uncovered at 350° about 60
minutes, basting occasionally. Serve
warm with cream. Serves 6
