Quaker’s
Best Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients
1¼ cups (2 ½ sticks) margarine, softened
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½
cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt (optional)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 cups QUAKER Oats (quick or old
fashioned, uncooked)
Method
1.
Heat oven to 375°F.

Beat margarine and sugars until creamy.
3.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
4.
Add combined, Flour, baking soda, salt
and spices, mix well.
5.
Stir in oats.
6.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto
ungreased cookie sheet.
7.
Bake 8 to 9 minutes for a chewy cookie,
10 to 11 minutes for a crisp cookie.
Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack.
8.
Makes about 4 ½ dozen.
