Nachos or Taco With Turkey Meat Sauce

Ingredients And Method

Tostitos

Layer Tostitos on a plate (optional you can bake them in the oven for a few seconds too). 

Turkey Sauce

Sauteed onions in a sauce pan.   Add ground turkey breast and cook along with onions.  Add seasonings, a can of stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce.  Mix together and simmer for about 30 minutes.

Layer or spoon meat sauce on top of Tostitos while hot and sprinkle with cheese of your choice.

Whole Wheat Butter Cream Sandwich Cookies




Recipe

Ingredients

2 oz whole wheat flour 
4 oz flour
2 oz sugar
2 oz butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon lemon flavoring 

Filling
¼ cup butter
6 – 8 tablespoons icing sugar
1/8 lemon flavoring 

Method

1.                  Mix flours and sugar on a pastry board.
2.                  Work in the butter or margarine and flavoring..
3.                  Roll out to about ½ -cm (¼ –inch) thick and cut into round shapes.  
4.                  Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in centre of a moderately hot oven, 375°F, 190°C, Gas Mark 5, for 10 - 12 minutes. 
5.                  Cool on the baking sheet.
6.                  Cream butter and icing sugar.  
7.                  When cool, spread the cookies with (butter cream mixture). Sandwich together.

Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

1/4 cup 2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon  baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon  salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup oats ( Quaker Oats Old Fashioned)
1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup cherries
1'4 cup walnuts, pecans or peanuts

Optional:  5.3 oz bag Hershey's Kisses Chocolate Milk Chocolate

Method

1.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees.   In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.   Add brown sugar,  granulated sugar,  baking powder,  baking soda,  salt, and,  if desired,  cinnamon and cloves.   Beat until combined, scraping side of bowl occasionally.   Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.   Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer.   Using a wooden spoon, stir in any remaining flour.   Stir in rolled oats.  If desired, stir in raisins, cherries and peanuts.

2.  Drop the dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.   Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden.  Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute.   Transfer to wire racks and let cool.   Makes 24 cookies.

Optional:
Immediately after removing baked cookies from the oven insert chocolate kisses into center of cookies.

Raisins, Walnuts And Coconut Bars

Cream 1/4 cup  butter  and 1/2 cup brown sugar till fluffy.   Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon grated orange peel, beat well.   Sift together 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour.   1/2 teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda,  add to creamed mixture.  Stir in 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, and 1/2 cup raisins.  Optional 1/4 Coconut
Spread in greased 11x7x1 1/2 -inch pan.  Bake  at 350 for 25 minutes.   Cool,  sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.   Makes 24

STEAMED MARBLE SPONGE 



















Steamed Marble Sponge

Ingredients

100g/4oz butter or margarine
100g/4oz castor sugar
150g/6oz self-raising flour (with plain flour use 1½ level teaspoons baking powder)
Little milk or water
Flavoring
Food Coloring

Method

1.                  Cream the margarine and sugar.
2.                   Add the eggs and fold in the sieved flour.
3.                   Mix to a soft dropping consistency with a little milk or water.
4.                  Add food coloring of your choice to about ¼ cup of the mixture.
5.                   Spoon both the mixtures into a greased pudding basin to marble, cover with greaseproof paper and steam for about 1 ½ hours. 
6.                  Optional:  Serve with chocolate sauce.
